Inspired by 18th-century chapbooks showing the world turned upside down, Simon Tozer creates screenprints where animals take center stage.

“Animals and images have something in common, which is that they mostly exist without words, and so have to find other ways to communicate" says Simon. “For some artists, including myself, words can be a challenge. Instead, I try to bring a sense of lightness to my work, whether through humor or the way the marks are made. When an image is created with joy, I believe that feeling comes through in the artwork.”
