By Will Priestley
These beautiful and functional jar spoons are hand-carved with an axe and knives from ethically sourced wood. They are decorated with milk paint and treated with pure linseed oil.
They have a long handle and are made especially for jars.
Will uses only four hand tools to collect and carve his products; a foldable saw, an axe, a straight-bladed carving knife and a crook knife for hollowing the spoon bowl. By keeping these tools as sharp as possible and with his experienced technique, the wood has a lovely 'tool finish' that is smoother than what could be achieved with sandpaper.
All of the wood comes from within 10 miles of Bristol, UK and is ethically and sustainably sourced, being a by-product of conservation work that would otherwise be burned or left to rot. Will uses hardwoods native to the British Isles, predominantly cherry, sycamore, birch, elm and beech, but really anything he can get his hands on!
**Please note, due to the nature of wood and hand crafted, the grain pattern and handle shape may differ slightly from those in the pictures. Every spoon is completely unique.
