Royal Mail Strike: Why And How It Will Affect Your Order.

Royal Mail Strike: Why And How It Will Affect Your Order.

We don’t want to put you off from shopping online with us, but we also want to make sure you are fully aware of the strike and how it will impact your Christmas gift purchases. We encourage you to shop early to avoid disappointment, and plan in advance for the delays.

Why is there a strike?

Members of the Communication Workers Union (CWU) at the Royal Mail said they were striking after rejecting a pay rise of 2%, and called on Royal Mail to offer an increase that "covers the current cost of living". Workers are also unhappy with working conditions.

CWU staff are also striking against pay deals that do not keep pace with inflation. Prices in the UK are rising at their fastest for 40 years, with inflation currently at 10.1%.

Prior Shop stands in solidarity with our striking postal workers who have voted for 19 days of strikes (see dates below).

How will it affect your order?

It won’t just have impact on the strike days. As frontline workers perform industrial action, the knock-off effects throughout the processing stream will also receive delays. This means that we sadly won't be able to confirm how long your parcel will take to get to you after it's left our shop.

How to avoid disappointment

Bristol Residents

The best way to avoid disappointment is to shop in-store or online and choose FREE Click and Collect.  Obviously we're aware this isn't practical for everyone, but if you live in Bristol or the surrounding area, why not make an old school Christmas shopping trip and come to our shop in person!

Customers Outside of Bristol

The second best way to avoid disappointment is to shop early. Please try to place your order as soon as possible, which will help ensure the timely delivery of your parcel. The delays are completely out of our hands and we cannot control how long Royal Mail will take to deliver your parcel. We are still paying Royal Mail to send it within 48 hours and fully tracked - but due to the strikes we are not getting this service but also cannot complain. It's a really frustrating situation for us and you, the customer.

We Can Post Directly To The Recipient

Remember - we gift wrap and can write a note for you to the recipient - so if you'd like to sent a gift directly to your loved one, we're happy to make the present look super festive for you.

Thank you for your understanding.
