Meaningful, Made-to-Last: The Ultimate Guide to Sustainable Gifts & Homeware from Prior Shop

Why Sustainable Gifts Matter More Than Ever

Fast fashion and throwaway trends are out. Conscious craftsmanship is in.
At Prior Shop,  every product is made with care by independent British makers who prioritise sustainability, quality, and beauty in equal measure.

Our guide to sustainable gifts and eco homeware is here to help you choose presents that tell a story - gifts that last, not landfill.

Sustainable Gifts for Him (That He’ll Actually Use)

Highlighted as a big gap are “eco gifts for men” - and we’ve got plenty to fill it.

From hand-knitted wool accessories to refillable grooming essentials, our men’s gift ideas combine everyday practicality with artisan design.

Shop favourites:

Island Nation Knitwear - soft merino scarves in modern tones, perfect for winter walks.

Natural Candles - minimalist soy candles with clean, masculine scents like Cedarwood and Vetiver.

Nicolas Dover Ceramics - robust stoneware mugs that feel great in the hand.

Eco Homeware: Conscious Design for Every Room

Searches for “eco homeware UK” and “sustainable home accessories” are growing fast - and this is where Prior Shop shines.

From handmade ceramics to woven textiles and sustainable candles, our homeware collections combine craftsmanship and conscience.

Explore:

Village Pottery – rustic glazes, simple forms, perfect for minimalist interiors. Who doesn't enjoy deploying the edict: "Bring me my massive Raspberry Mug!".

Lucy Turner -  Bring a bright,  bold splash of colour to your kitchen table with Lucy's highly durable floral pan trivets and Japanese style serving trays.

Desire North - Minimalist, Scandinavian inspired designs hand cast and built to last - I love the satisfying, smooth look and feel of this Pebble Tea Light Holder cupped in my hands.

Made from waste plastic and using wind energy, these stylish plant pots from Elho come in a variety of sizes and colours.

Zero Waste & Everyday Sustainability

We are a zero waste shop in Bristol and live to offer sustainable living tips...

We believe small swaps add up to big impact. From reusable cups to natural cleaning essentials, Prior Shop’s Zero Waste Collection makes sustainable living beautiful.

Highlights:

Reusable bottles and keep cups – perfect for on-the-go Bristol mornings.

Beeswax reusable food wraps  -  no more clingfilm. Made with natural dyes in beautiful designs.

Plastic-Free Cleaning & Body Bars – effective, eco-formulated, and locally produced. Having struggled all year to find a shampoo that works on my hair's changing needs, Hairy Jayne's shampoo bar is finally sorting my locks right out, and it smells gorgeous.

Try these Refillables for your everyday rituals : Hairy Jayne's Shampoo concentrate; Freshcia's Foaming Handwash; and Howie ceramics' colourful Oil Pourers and Soap Dispensers

Sustainable Jewellery & Fashion Accessories

Ethical jewellery in the UK and  eco fashion accessories are top trends for Christmas gift buying and at Prior Shop, jewellery isn’t just decoration - it’s storytelling in metal and texture.

Featured Makers:

Sister Luna – recycled silver and brass pieces handmade in Bristol - I love these subtle 'Moon Phase Stud Earrings'.

Kay Morgan  - Bold and colourful graphic designs made from waste leather. Bring some old school glamour with these art deco-inspired earrings

Looking for a simple and versatile piece? This subtly striking Bangle from Ava and Bea is great for everyday and occasion wear.

Pair a Lima Lima necklace with a natural dyed scrunchie from Cocoon Dyes  for the perfect slow-fashion combo.

Made in Bristol: Celebrating Local Makers

Finally, let’s fill that “British-made gifts” product gap with what Prior Shop does best - community storytelling.

Every item on our shelves supports a local craftsperson. From Bristol potters to Welsh weavers, our makers embody creativity and care.

Supporting local means reducing carbon footprint, building stronger communities, and keeping traditional crafts alive.

Shop Local Collections:

Beau & Badger -  Apparently founder Emma is "one of the nicest humans out there" - presumably because they take any anger out on their up-cycled vintage china pieces, hand printed with cheeky and outspoken phrases. Emma sources all their china plates from a variety of charity shops around Bristol, Bath and North-East Somerset.

Claire Cartwright Studio - Hand printed using eco-friendly inks in Easton, using local suppliers, Claire's stylish linen lampshades are the perfect cheery addition to brighten up gloomy rooms in the winter months.

Bristol Made -  Lisa's gorgeous products are made in Whitehall, not far from our Church Road shop in Redfield. Organic skin care with no chemicals = kind to skin. Try this delicious smelling Jasmine and Mango Butter Hand Cream - kind to my poor dry mitts in the colder weather! All packaged in fully recyclable aluminium and glass.

It's time to throw this Blanket from the Bristol Weaving Mill on the bed for the chillier Autumn nights, along with this winter-defying Cushion from Honest Weavers.

Why It All Matters

Sustainable gifting isn’t a trend - it’s a shift in how we value things.
Choosing quality over quantity. People over production. Materials over marketing.

At Prior Shop, every purchase supports real people making beautiful, responsible products right here in the UK.
