About
AFK Ceramics is created by Cornwall-based ceramicist Amelia K Fulton, whose work is grounded in a deep respect for material, process and place. From her small garden studio, Amelia hand-throws and hand-builds stoneware pieces designed for everyday use and quiet enjoyment. She works exclusively with clay sourced directly from Cornwall’s last remaining clay mine in St Agnes, a family-run operation that supplies unbleached, naturally filtered material. Her forms take cues from the landscape - shorelines, weathered textures and the slow shifts of nature. With a background in illustration and printmaking, Amelia’s approach is rooted in gentle observation and thoughtful making. She also teaches workshops across Penryn, Helston and from her home studio, sharing her calm, process-led approach to clay.
Sustainability
Sustainability guides every stage of Amelia’s practice. She chooses local clay to reduce transport impact and to stay closely connected to the raw material that shapes her work. In the studio, every scrap of clay is recycled, and water is continually reused to keep waste to a minimum. Although stoneware requires higher firing temperatures, its strength and longevity honour the energy invested in each piece. Amelia’s studio is furnished almost entirely with second-hand tools, and all shelving, throwing bats and drying boards are made from reclaimed wood salvaged from skips. Her practice prioritises thoughtful resource use, transparency and long-lasting craft - values that align closely with Prior’s ethos.
