Thrown by hand from gently basalt-flecked white stoneware, this colander is both beautiful and functional - the ideal addition to your handmade ceramics collection.

Description

Made by Florence in her Bristol studio, this minimal colander is inspired by contemporary Scandinavian and Japanese ceramics. There are two variations of colander, with differing handle types.

Thrown on the potter's wheel, the tiny speckles of basalt are brought to the fore when covered in a matte, oatmeal crystalline glaze, and high-fired to 1265 degrees centigrade.

The holes are freehand punched into the clay, and are therefore distributed across the vessel in an organic formation.

Finished with Florence's maker's mark on the bottom, the simple and timeless design will look just as lovely on a shelf as it is to use on the daily. Functional, simple ceramics for the everyday, to give those daily rituals a little uplift.

This particular colander has handles cut out from side of the vessel, making it very durable. Ideal for washing stone fruit or berries.
