An organic and beautiful celebration of nature and folklore, this handmade original linocut is printed on Nepalese 'Lokta' paper in a vibrant yellow.
Description
A beautiful original lino cut by Bristol based artist Becca Thorne based on the ancient Germanic Goddess of Spring.
Eostre (eːostre) is the West Saxon/Mercian name for the Germanic goddess who gave her name to Eosturmonaþ, or Eostre month, which later became the Christian Easter.
She’s linked with classic Easter symbols of hares and eggs, and the various forms of her name appear to derive from the Proto-Indo-European root words for dawn, daybreak and glow - as does the modern English word ‘east’.
